About Sargent Geckos

Growing up in Texas, I was always fascinated with animals and knew when I got older I wanted to do something with them. By the time I got to college, I still had the the same bright eyed look in my eyes about animals like I did when I was a little girl. While attending Texas A&M University, I saw all aspects of animal life from livestock in my animal science classes to insects in my horticulture classes. But the most interesting classes I took had to be animal genetics and animal breeds. These classes were the start of my curiosity with genetics and how it worked.

It’s like they say curiosity killed the cat because soon after that one of my friend invited me to go with her to a reptile show, and I was hooked. Buying my first crested gecko, then owning three, then five, then nine, it’s hard keeping count now.

Sargent Geckos started as just an idea rattling around in my brain, and then shortly after became a hobby. By breaking down the name Sargent Geckos, the name “Sargent” comes from my beautiful catahoula leopard cur dog, Sarge. And we all know what the “Gecko” part stands for. Now of the logo, I wanted it to be different than any other logo before. One half of the logo, the grey gecko, is one of my foundational females and the very first female I had ever bought, Echo. The other half of the logo, the yellow gecko, is one of my foundational males and the very first gecko in my collection, Viserion. Lastly, the eyes of the gecko come from my dogs eyes.

Here at Sargent Geckos, we strive to improve and better understand the genetics of the crested geckos and share it with you all.
